Beavers (6-8 Years)

Welcome to the Colony!

Beaver Scouting is where the fun begins. Beavers are our youngest members, meeting weekly at our meeting place. Each colony hosts its own programme, providing a wide range of activities including games, crafts, singing and visits along with plenty of outdoor activities.

The aim is to encourage social development; teach basic manners, skills and promote interaction with nature and the environment. Beavers also have the opportunity to take part in the fun and excitement of sleepovers and camps. It may be the first time they spend a night away from home so it’s a real adventure for them, they thoroughly enjoy it!

Cubs (8-10.5 Years)

Welcome to the Pack!

Cub Scouts start to experience the more adventurous things that Scouting has to offer. From our regular camps to more challenging camps during the winter, Cubs gain the chance to plan and run parts of the camp, especially the cooking! Cubs can also be more adventurous on the water, learning Canoeing and Kayaking, more challenging climbing and night hikes.

During our more regular meetings Cubs will learn about the environment, vital first aid skills, how to safely use tools, cooking, and much more. But through all this adventure and learning, our Cub Scouts figure out how to work in teams, how to look after each other, how to stretch themselves and face up to challenges and, we hope, how to be the best young men and women they can be. Cubs welcomes boys and girls of any ability, disability or extra need. We give Cubs every opportunity we can to grow and develop.

Scouts (10.5-14 Years)

Welcome to the Scout Troop!

Scouts are diverse, dynamic and well-rounded individuals. We know because we help to foster your development! Outdoor activities feature prominently, with the highlight being camping throughout the year. We aim to teach skills that will last you a lifetime, just about anything you wouldn’t pick up from school. There is nothing more satisfying than being able to solve a problem yourself.

Being a Scout allows you to interact with a range of different people of different backgrounds. You all come together to achieve things you wouldn’t otherwise. Of course it’s more than just skills for life; we go rock climbing, potholing, gliding, photography, weekend hikes and international experiences are just some of the things they get up to.

If you want to learn theatre skills, we’ll show you the way. If you want to kayak on the Thames, we’ll find a way. Join us and find out, life’s an adventure!

Explorers (14-18 Years)

Welcome to the Pimlico Guards!

Explorers are encouraged to lead themselves in deciding the programme and direction of the Unit, with support and guidance from leaders. The section also includes the Young Leaders’ Scheme, where young people are able to take on a leadership role in one of the younger sections.

There is wider scope for activities like offshore sailing, campaigning, performing, parascending, mountaineering and expeditions.

Adult Volunteers (18+ Years)

Welcome to the Group!

Being an adult volunteer with us is one of the most fulfilling volunteer roles there is. Being able to work with a variety of young people from all walks of life and support them developing into independent and courageous people is second to none. At the 16th City of Westminster we always strive to provide the best for our young people and deliver quality programme.

But the fun doesn't stop there! We also have culture which is rich in adult support where we link with other Groups across the District, making new friends and memories that will last a lifetime. If you've ever wondered what it's like to have a second family, then come and volunteer with us and we'll show you what it's all about.
